Surveys

National Programmes

Quality Health runs major national programmes on behalf of the NHS. We run the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey Programme for the Department of Health, with the results from the 2010 survey being published in December 2010 and January 2011. This survey programme covers cancer services in acute hospitals and examines the results by tumour group based on ICD10 codes; the National Report, available on this site, also analyses the data by SHA, age band, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and deprivation decile, based on responses from a sample of over 109,000 patients in England. Reports for each participating Trust are being published on this site in January 2011.

Quality Health also runs significant parts of the National Patient Reported Outcome Measures programme on behalf of the Department of Health, working with our partners Northgate Information Solutions. Quality Health mobilises NHS hospitals and Independent Providers to undertake the programme, distributes pre operative questionnaires to hospitals, and post operative questionnaires to patients, from a cohort of around 250,000 patients each year who have elective surgery on 300 hospital sites. PROMs is the biggest national Outcome Measures programme in the world analysing patient views of the effectiveness of surgery.

Quality Health has a clear understanding of key programmes in the NHS such as Agenda for Change and Improving Working Lives.

Working with Essential Standards and the National Operating Framework

The National Patient Surveys and the National Staff Survey are important data sources for the Care Quality Commission when assessing the registration status and performance of NHS Trusts.

In addition, Government policy, set out through the NOF and White Papers on “The Information Revolution” and on the Outcomes Framework, is to abolish most process targets for the NHS but to measure the quality of services by significantly greater emphasis on patient experience and patient reported outcome measures data.

This agenda will put patients in the driving seat of change and will enable many issues related to patient care to be prioritised in a way that has not been possible before.

That is why Quality Health include in all their Management Reports for Trusts a section on how the Trust is doing in relation to NOF and CQC Performance where it is relevant to do so.

Quality Health is run by a strong management team who have the widest experience in the country of running national performance review systems and we can therefore help you directly with the performance indicators that exist for your Trust.

Ensuring Effective and Informed Feedback

Quality Health not only undertakes  surveys, but also provides high quality, informed feedback to Trusts, Boards and Providers on site, through our highly qualified team of Consultants. Presentations are clear, straightforward, and relevant, and are specially designed for busy clinicians and managers.

A Wide Range of Services

Quality Health also develops special surveys for Trusts covering all specialties, services and patient groups; carries out major reviews of NHS services, using process analysis methodology; and undertakes Quality Improvement Planning in all services.

Recent surveys undertaken include work with forensic patients, tracking surveys of mental health clients in the community, and we have just begun analysis of the Information Prescriptions Programme in cancer services on behalf of Cancer Research UK, on a 2 year programme as the policy is rolled out to Trusts.
