Working with Health Check

The National Patient Surveys and the National Staff Survey are important data sources for the Healthcare Commission when assessing the performance of Trusts under Health Check.

That is why Quality Health include in all their Management Reports for Trusts a section on how the Trust is doing in relation to Health Check data. It is a simple guide to assist busy people in Trusts to target improvements in performance so that they can meet Health Check standards.

Quality Health is run by people who have the widest experience in the country of running national performance review systems and we can therefore help you directly with Health Check and how to improve your scores and overall performance.

The survey data will feed into the Commission in 3 different ways:

• It will be used when Trusts are one of the 10% who are chosen at random each year to have their self declarations checked against evidence.
• It wiil also be used with the 10% of Trusts who will have their declarations analysed where, in the view of the Commission, there are causes for concern.
• The data will also be a reference point for the Commission in respect of Trusts generally when they publish the traffic light Health Check results in Autumn 2006.
