Your Guide to the Diabetes Patients Survey 2006
In 2006 the Local Health Service survey has been replaced with a survey of Diabetes Patients. Details of the methodology are now being finalised.
Quality Health will be running this important survey in a wide range of PCTs across the country, with an even greater coverage than in 2005. We are the most cost effective provider for this survey, so please give us a call on 01246 856263 for a quote.
Experience with Diabetes
QH has already run surveys of Diabetes Patients in many locations, and knows the clinical and organisational issues which flow from this important condition. We strongly support the introduction of surveys of patients covering long term conditions such as Diabetes; there are sadly, and despite best efforts, around 33,000 deaths a year arising from this condition and it is vitally important to ask diabetics how the service can be improved and how they can be helped to manage their condition most effectively as partners with their clinical team.
A Complete Service
All PCTs need to put in place their arrangements for dealing with the survey. The Diabetes Survey has a more complicated methodology than the previous Local Health Service survey and Quality Health can give you the professional help you need to run it effectively.
In 2005 Quality Health ran the Local Health Service survey in 62 PCTs. We have been working with PCTs and their predecessors for over 20 years on scores of surveys and consultations in community health services run by GPs, AHPs, and specialist nursing services - including Diabetes Surveys. We have also run practice surveys for GPs, surveyed GPs themselves about service delivery, and organised focus groups with GPs about local services.
You will need to tell the new Survey Co-ordination Centre who you are using to run the survey by March 8th. The survey will be finished and data submitted to the Commission in June.
